I would like to find a media player that plays .torrent videos on MAC OS X?

I recently downloaded videos that are .torrent instead of .avi I have a MAC OS X and it wont allow the videos to be played on quicktime, windows media player or divx. Are there any safe media player I can download that will allow me to watch these videos?

VLC Player is recommended, or get a mac converter(like this one:http://goo.gl/xjJlb) to convert the videos to mp4 or mov, then you can play the video with Quicktime Player.
