What are some cool things you can do to customize Mac OSx using "terminal" or some open source apps?

I mainly use my MacBook for music, movies, email and internet browsing.


If you really want to customize things, you can download Mac Ports http://www.macports.org/ and install many of the same open source applications Linux users enjoy (because both mac and linux are Unix based).

You must have X11 installed
