How can I change my settings to not show my laptop and PC on the same server accessing websites?

I am on XP and set up a wireless Linksys router
I've tried huindreds...none are working...need to know how and what to change so they do not show up as being on local network.
It's a huge topic whose answer depends on your familiarity with TCP/IP networking and the HTTP protocol, among other things.
