Charging Ipod?

I am going on a trip soon and there will be another computer. I know I can charge my ipod on that computer, but my question is will it be safe to just take it out once its done charging, even if it says "Do not disconnect". If not, can anyone

all you have to do is press eject.
then you will be fine.
and if not wait till it just says its charging then you will be fine.
there are also chargers you can by to plug into an outlet.
they workjust as well.
