The expansion of the iPhone 4S to three U.S. carriers means buyers suddenly have options, but are trifled by the fact that each of the three choices comes with its own caveats. AT&T currently houses most U.S. iPhone users thanks to nearly four years of exclusivity, and isn’t quite as awful as outsiders have long perceived. Verizon has the lead in 4G LTE buildout. Sprint has the lowest price plans and offers unlimited data plans to new customers. But all each stink in their own way.
AT&T iPhone 4S : Amid nearly non-existent 4G LTE network buildout, no unlimited data plan for new customers, high prices, and subpar customer service, the main reason to buy an iPhone 4S from AT&T appears to be the fact that you’re already with AT&T. That’s not pure inertia, either. With most longtime iPhone users on AT&T thanks to exclusivity, leaving would mean paying an early termination fee of a couple hundred dollars and giving up the unlimited monthly data plans they’ve been grandfathered into. But AT&T’s current 3G network appears to be getting worse, not better. The LTE cavalry isn’t coming any time soon. And AT&T’s intention to buy T-Mobile for the sake of using its slower quasi-4G nationwide network to bridge the gaps in the spotty 4G LTE network it plans to build? That might be the last straw for some of you, despite 200,000 AT&T preorders for the iPhone 4S last night showing plenty of AT&T customers content to stay put. So here’s a look at the other two players in the market…

It would be interesting if google actually marketed the phone as a competitor to the iphone If it lists aws or 1700, its TMobile supported. I just think it's hilarious how all the Verizon heads thought they were getting this exclusive,

But in the usual hysteria ahead of a highly-anticipated Apple announcement, Boy Genius Report is claiming its sources say the iPhone 5 will be a Sprint exclusive. It's quite clear why Sprint is willing to dig deep to get the iPhone.
